School Camping!
February 2014 - Papaya Academy celebrated it’s 11th Foundation day, with a theme “11 years
of Excellence: Soaring High Towards Global Competency”. In line with the celebration, Papaya
Academy had their 2 days and 1 night school camping joined with all grade levels.
DAY 1
Children assembled themselves into different troops with a leader and assisstant leaders. They
prepared some yells and made their own flags. The camping itself serves not only recreation but
a training for them to become a great leaders someday and even a good citizen in the country.
The activity started as early
as 9 o’clock in the morning
followed by the morning
games.
There are lots of activities
teachers had prepare for
the children. Those activi-
ties help the children know
themselves and improved
their well-being. Some of
the activities enhance their
physical strengths, emotional
skills, mental alertness, and
even the spiritual beings.
All grade levels participated
the camping, even grades 1
and 2 joined every activities.
The first day activities test
their physical strengths and
mental awareness and helps
them know more about themselves
in a team. There were lots of cheers,
smiles, laughings everywhere and they
were all enjoying each activities they
participated.
As activity started early in the morning
the children cannot be seen any signs
of being tired, they love to participate
all the activities. The day reached the
afternoon but the energy of the pupils
never been drained.
After 2 hours break, Papaya Academy
lit the Bonfire which symbolized the good
works and hope. The fire is like their deter-
mination and good deeds which they need
to let it shine before others. While the
bonfire started to be lit up, the children were
all singing “Come! Come! Light up the Fire”.
They all singing so loud that makes the fire
so bright.
Inside the circle, while children starring
at the fire you can see to their eyes
the determination of pursuing their
goals and dreams. Some of them
teared not actually knowing the
reason. After the meditation, the
best yell for the boy scouts
performed and followed by the
girl scouts.
After the bonfire, the children started
to prepare themselves going to
their respective rooms to get rest.
After the long day of activities,
the children fell quickly to asleep.
The Papaya Academy filled with silence
that time. :)
After a tiring day on the first day, as early as 5 o’clock in the morning the children woke up
to have their exercise to be lead by the teachers. After an hour of moving their body and
making them alive, each troop formed a circle to start a day with
scripture reading. As a christian, it
is important to start the day giving
thanks and communicate with God
first before anything else. They share
thoughts, read the scriptures and
telling to the other members of the
troop how lucky they were and how
glad they were. The testimonies they
had about God and sharing all the
things to strengthen each others faith
in God. After which, they took their break-
fast and started a training. Some of the
training includes flag folding and first aid.
Another physical activities again occur
after the said training, the obstacle entitled,
“Wet and Wild: War games obstacle”. This
obstacle requires physical strength and mental alertness.
The scene is like the children are
in a battle field and they need to
defeat their opposing team.
Before the camping ends, they took
their lunch and give awards to those
who gave their bests and efforts as a
troop. A slideshow of pictures from
day 1 to day 2 was flashed in a
screen which made the children
lively again for the last time.
Truly the school camping that was held was
Superb! The parents who voluntarily helped the staffs making the camping successful as it was
were also receive a certificate and awards at the end of the day. It was a very tiring 2 days but
the experiences and smiles of the children lasts.
Live long Papaya Academy! :)
